1. Nordstrom – 8687 N Central Expy Level One, Dallas, TX 75225
   They have a wide selection of maternity and nursing clothes. The style ranges from casual to elegant and the quality is almost always reliable when purchasing from Nordstrom.
2. Nothing Fits But (Online Only) – This is a premium South Korean label that has been popular these past few years due to their cute and chic dresses. I own some of their bestseller dresses and it’s a favorite amongst all moms. Amazon also carries a limited selection of their bestseller dresses. 

Mid-Range Options for Stylish Maternity Wear in Dallas

1. Nordstrom Rack – 13900 Dallas Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75240
   I love strolling inside of Nordstrom Rack to find a good deal on brand named pieces. However, I think it would be better to just shop online for maternity clothes. The reason is because Nordstrom Rack primarily sells discounted merchandise from Nordstrom and the selection might be limited. Shopping online will help you save time by filtering out the size, color, or style you prefer and have it shipped to your home. 
2. H&M – 13350 Dallas Pkwy., Dallas, TX 75240 This was one of my favorite shops in high school and I still casually browse in H&M for fashionable and stylish daily wear. When I saw their maternity clothing line, it’s totally on brand with my style because it gives a modern, minimalist, and classic look. They offer a wide selection of maternity clothes from pants, jeans, dresses, and tops.

Budget-Friendly Shops for Casual Maternity Wear in Dallas

1. Maurices 

There are 46 locations in Texas and if you cannot move too much during your pregnancy, then you are more than welcome to shop on their website. 

2. Target – 2417 N. Haskell Ave., Dallas, TX

Target has been my favorite local go-to store for home goods, school supplies, gardens, and anything home related really. Recently, they’ve been collaborating with numerous brands to bring affordable and casual fashion to consumers. Not all Target locations carry maternity clothes, so I recommend checking online or give them a call before you head there. 

3. Gap – 5350 W. Lovers Ln. #120, Dallas, Texas

Gap is a clothing chain has been around for decades and offers a wide range of clothing for family, maternity, jeans, and loungewear. Not all stores will carry maternity clothes, so I always recommend shopping online and check the reviews.

4. Old Navy – 13350 Dallas Pkwy., Dallas, Texas 75240

Old Navy was one of my favorites as a child and they always offer similar styles to Gap. Their maternity clothes are stylish, casual, and perfect for daily wear or even for work. 

5. Kohl’s – 5750 Skillman St., Dallas, Texas 75206

Kohl’s has various locations in Dallas, Texas and the address listed above is just one of them. In terms of budget, Kohl’s is the most affordable if you’re looking to save before baby arrives, this is it. In my personal option, some of their maternity clothes are not as stylish compared to the ones I’ve seen in Target, Gap, and Old Navy.

Online Maternity Clothes Shopping Tips

The convenience of shopping online definitely saves you the hassle of driving, helps save gas, and also saves time from wandering in the mall too long. As an experienced online shopper, here are some tips I consider when shopping online.

1. Always check the sizing chart & have a measuring tape ready. I also check for any reviews that mention sizing. For example true to size or need to size up, too small. 
2. Read the most recent reviews. I usually avoid purchasing anything with 3 stars or fewer, even if it’s on sale and cute. Chances are, something is wrong with it, and it might have a high return rate.
3. Check the return policy. These are some policies I’ve seen in the past:
   1. Some online shops will charge a 10% restocking fee.
   2. Offer no refunds on final sale or clearance items. 
   3. Some maternity shops provide a free return label, while others charge a shipping and handling fee.
   4. Exchange only or store credit.
   5. Partial refund.
   6. Refunds have deadlines too, such as 15 days, 30 days, or 60 days.
   7. No refunds are available for personalized items, such as debossing or embroidery.
4. Some maternity shops may charge a shipping fee if you decide to return an item, but you can avoid it by returning it in-store, if it’s local to you. 

My favorite maternity shops are usually those with a customer-friendly return policy, because they make the process quick, easy, and straightforward. 

What to Look for When Shopping for Maternity Clothes

When shopping for maternity clothes, it’s a good idea to consider comfort, flexibility, and even breathability. If you want to be able to wear the outfit again after a single wash, then the fabric material is also very important. I’m only telling you this because I used to purchase these cute tops from Forever 21, but after a single wash, they all became crop tops.

Ever since that experience with Forever 21, I believe that it’s important to invest in quality clothing brands. It doesn’t always have to be a luxury and expensive brand. You can definitely find a great deal and good quality at some of the maternity shops I listed above.

Recommended Fabrics for Maternity Clothes

1. Any fabric that’s soft and stretchy, like cotton blends, bamboo, or jersey knits. These types of fabric allow room for growth and are more comfortable.
2. Stretchy pants with an attached spandex material that wraps and supports the belly. However, I would not purchase a shirt made of spandex material because it might make you feel uncomfortable and can be challenging to put on and take off.
3. For the winter weather, bigger or loose sweaters made of wool or polyester will always keep you warm and in style for the season.

Avoid these Fabrics

1. Maternity clothes that wrinkle easily are usually made of linen, rayon, and sometimes cotton. This is just a personal preference because I don’t like going out with wrinkly clothes.
2. Clothing that requires handwashing only. This is just taking into consideration the fact that you will be very busy once your baby is born. Some modern washing machines have a hand-wash feature, but you’ll still have to hang dry, which can make the fabric feel stiff or tough afterwards.
3. Dry cleaning only maternity clothes. For daily casual wear, this is not ideal for a busy lifestyle. However, if the outfit is for a special event, such as a wedding or formal party, it would be perfectly okay to purchase maternity clothes that requires dry cleaning.

2. Nursing-friendly tops will make your life so much easier.
3. A-line dresses are usually the most flattering because they cinch at the waistline.
