Last year, I had the pleasure of photographing these beautiful families during one of my favorite times of year— fall. The light was golden, the air just crisp enough to wrap up in a cozy sweater, and the trees were showing off in all their warm tones. We met at the dreamy Rose Garden of Farmers Branch, one of my favorite locations for family photography for a Dallas Fall Family Session.
There was laughter and the kind of joyful chaos that only comes with energetic toddlers and a very enthusiastic puppy. But somehow, even in the wildest moments, everything came together. The imperfectly perfect bits are always my favorite.
The end result? A collection of genuine, heartfelt images now hanging in their homes—reminders of a wonderful day that feels like them. These session weren’t just about taking pictures; they were about slowing down, connecting, and letting the beauty of the season do its thing.
As a Dallas family photographer, these are the kinds of sessions I love most—natural, full of life, and deeply personal.

Fall has a certain magic you can’t quite replicate any other time of year. The colors, the textures, the cozy layers, the way the air starts to cool just enough to make you lean into each other a little more. And in North Texas, we’re lucky to have some truly stunning locations—like the Rose Garden of Farmers Branch, where the light dances through the trees and the floral paths feel like a secret storybook scene.
It’s also when the light gets softer, richer, and lower in the sky—especially at sunset, when everything is bathed in that golden glow that makes your photos feel almost cinematic.

If you’ve ever wondered why certain photos just look dreamier, chances are they were taken during “golden hour.” This is the last hour before sunset, and it’s when the light is at its most flattering—soft, warm, and magical. That’s why I plan most of my Dallas fall family sessions around this time. It gives us the best chance to capture that cozy, golden atmosphere you see in so many of my favorite images.

One of the most common questions I get is: “What should we wear?” My answer is always—don’t overthink it, but do think soft and seasonal. Fall is the perfect time for warm neutrals, soft earth tones, muted greens and blues, navy, rust, cream, and deep browns. Texture photographs beautifully this time of year, so knits, linen, and layers are all great choices.
Avoid loud patterns or logos, and think in terms of movement—flowy dresses, layered cardigans, and dreamy colors. If you’re unsure, I always provide a styling guide for my clients, and I’m more than happy to help you plan. A cohesive look goes a long way in bringing your gallery together beautifully.

My sessions are relaxed, playful, and centered around you. I guide you through natural prompts, keep things moving, and allow space for those in-between moments that often become the favorites.
If your toddler is wiggly, or your pup wants to chase leaves—perfect. We’ll work with the energy you bring and turn it into something beautiful. For the families featured here, that meant fully embracing the joyful unpredictability of siblings and a puppy. We explored the garden paths, chased light, and paused for cuddles. And in between it all were quiet glances, shared laughs, and little moments that said everything without a single word.
As a Dallas family photographer, I believe those small, unscripted moments often become the most meaningful images.

Fall is by far my most requested season. With shorter daylight hours, limited weekend availability, and families planning ahead for holiday cards, my calendar fills quickly—especially for golden hour sessions at popular locations like the Rose Garden of Farmers Branch.
Even though it may still feel like summer now, fall is just around the corner—and the earlier we plan, the better chance we have of capturing your family in that stunning golden light.
So if you’ve been dreaming of cozy, light-soaked images surrounded by the warmth of the season, I’d love to help bring that vision to life.
Let’s make this season one you’ll never forget.
